Secret Island is just a few miles off the coast of Belize, in the Caribbean Sea. It is currently an undeveloped island, but this place has great potential for a variety of reasons.

It is geographically close to the mainland (seven miles), so shipping building materials and people is only a 20-minute boat ride. Standing on Secret Island and looking towards the mainland of Belize is much like standing on the beach in Maui and looking toward Lanai or Molokai, just as a point of reference that might help you visualize it.

Currently the island is surrounded by red mangroves on the perimeter, and black mangroves and grass throughout the island. You can go 30+ yards out from the edge of Secret Island into the water and still be in only knee deep water. You can look at the pictures and notice the shallow water.

There is plenty of room to build a few houses, a great area for a beach, and a natural cove with deep water that makes a great place to build a dock. There are also several islands within a mile of the island, and the entire region is part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

In Belize, all land up to 66 feet from the high water level is considered national land or ‘Queen’s Land’. What this means is that there are two different ways to calculate the size of Secret Island .The Belize government’s way of calculating the size of the island (including the 66′ calculation): 1.03 acres.official size. The normal way to calculate the size of the island (not including the 66′ calculation):2.5 acres actual size.

The location is beautiful, the island is exactly how you would picture a tropical island to be, and Belize is paradise. If you are not familiar with Belize, you should be. English is the official language, there are only 300,000 people in the entire country, and it has the lowest population density in Central America. Basically Belize is where Costa Rica was 30 years ago, before the real estate prices went through the roof and the tourists took over. A quick two-hour flight from Houston or Miami, every day.
